Rio de Janeiro, Dec 29 (IANS) Brazilian football club Palmeiras have reached a deal to sign Venezuela international midfielder Alejandro Guerra.
Guerra will join his new teammates in January after Palmeiras agreed to sign the 31-year-old from Colombia's Atletico Nacional for an undisclosed fee, the Brazilian Serie A champions announced on Wednesday, reports Xinhua news agency.
Palmeiras beat off interest in the playmaker from a host of clubs, including local rivals Santos.
Guerra was voted the best player in this year's Copa Libertadores -- South America's top club competition -- which Nacional won for only the second time in their history.
He has been capped 60 times for Venezuela, scoring three goals since his international debut in 2006.
