Beirut, Dec 28 (IANS) Lebanon's government headed by Prime Minister Saad Hariri won the parliamentary vote of confidence on Wednesday after it secured the approval of 87 out of 92 lawmakers who attended the vote session.
"We thank the Lebanese Army and security forces for the sacrifices they made. I hereby vow that the government will follow-up on the issue of the detained servicemen until they return safely to their homes," Xinhua news agency quoted Hariri as saying during a debate on his government's policy statement.
"I confirm that there were some contentious issues similar to the arms issue" he said referring to Hezbollah's arms without directly mentioning it.
"We want a new electoral law. Each one of us has a role in that regard," he added.
Hariri also talked about women's parliamentary quota and expressed the hope that no one would object to it.
He also stressed on his commitment to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) and said it was primarily established to achieve justice.
Hariri was tasked with forming the first government of President Michel Aoun's term, who was elected Lebanon's 13th President on October 31.
