AAP alleges 'political conspiracy', says Gomes being framed

New Delhi, Dec 26 (IANS) The AAP on Monday alleged a "political conspiracy" by the BJP against its Goa Chief Ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes, saying that he is being framed in a false case.

Addressing media shortly after Gomes returned from the office of Anti-Corruption Branch of Goa Police, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Ashutosh said that an FIR was registered against Gomes in June after he took VRS to join AAP.

"The FIR related to a case from five years ago and was registered only because Gomes had decided to join AAP," he alleged.

Ashutosh also showed a video clip in which Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and his Deputy Francis D'Souza had praised Gomes earlier this year and had said he was not involved in the case.

"But just a day after he was announced Goa CM candidate of the party, he was summoned by the ACB," Ashutosh said, adding "it was part of a political conspiracy to intimidate AAP".

"After victimising AAP MLAs in Delhi, BJP is doing the same in Goa. They failed here and will meet the same fate in Goa. We will not get intimidated," he said.
