New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the city government to complete the process for issuance of 10,000 fresh auto rickshaw permits by March 31, 2017.
Justice Manmohan directed the Delhi government to complete the process for issuance of fresh Letters of Intent for auto rickshaws, while hearing its plea that it be allowed to start a fresh process which would be carried out online to ensure transparency.
Earlier, some autodrivers had moved the court against cancellation of 324 permits to ply auto rickshaws. The Transport Department of had cancelled the permits after it received complaints of irregularities in the allotment process.
The court also allowed these 324 auto drivers who had purchased autos after getting the Letter of Intent in 2015 from government to participate in the process.
