West Indies name new selector
Georgetown (Guyana), Dec 15 (IANS) Former West Indies cricketer Travis Dowlin has been added to the selection panel of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Dowlin, who represented Guyana from 1997 to 2011, will begin official duties from January 1, a statement from the board said on Wednesday, reports CMC.

He joins Courtney Browne, Eldine Baptiste and Lockhart Sebastien to complete the panel.

Dowlin, who captained Guyana in the 2009 season, has played 85 first-class matches, scoring 4,013 runs at an average of 30.7.

His international career lasted one year, during which he played six Tests, 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and two T20Is. During his short stint as an international cricketer, he scored one ODI century and three Test fifties.

His selection on the regional squad came at the height of a fallout between the board and players.

Dowlin has been a cricket analyst for the past three years at both regional and international levels, and has done radio commentary for the Caribbean Premier League and regional matches held in Guyana.

Dowlin, who holds a Diploma in Communications, currently attends University of Guyana where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
