90 trains delayed, 38 cancelled due to fog

New Delhi, Dec 13 (IANS) At least 90 trains were delayed and 38 trains cancelled on Tuesday due to dense fog in parts of north India, officials said.

According to a Northern Railway official, the Islampur-New Delhi Magadh Express was running 48 hours behind its schedule, while the Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was 22 hours late and the Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi weekly express was delayed by 38 hours.

 

At least 17 trains were cancelled on Tuesday which included the New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express, 12355 Rajendra Nagar-Jammu Tawi Archana Express, New Delhi-Gaya Mahabodhi Express and the Jodhpur-Varansi Marudhar Express.

At least 13 trains running on December 14 and eight trains running on December 15 were also cancelled.

The official said that 40 trains were rescheduled as the visibility dropped to 400 metres on Tuesday.

The railways has rescheduled New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express which will now depart at 10.30 p.m. instead of its scheduled time of 4.55 p.m.

Even the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express was rescheduled to 10.15 p.m. instead of its scheduled time of 4.55 p.m., while 12310 New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express has been rescheduled for 1 a.m. instead of 5.15 p.m.

Meanwhile, according to the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which manages operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here, no flight was cancelled on Tuesday, though a few international flights arriving in Delhi were delayed.
