Two held for killing Delhi ASI, woman


New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have solved the murder here of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the force and his woman friend with the arrest of two persons.

Accused Jeet Dahiya and Amar Singh were arrested from Rohini area on the charge of killing ASI Joginder Lakra, 45, and his friend Manisha, police said.

Lakra and Manisha were found murdered early on Sunday at a property dealer's office that the deceased police official used to run at Deep Nagar in north Delhi, police said.

Lakra was posted with the Ist Battalion of Delhi Police.

"During interrogation, Jeet said he had dealings with Joginder over dance and illegal betting activities. A monetary dispute between the two developed into enmity," Deputy Commissioner of Police M.N. Tiwari told IANS.

Jeet allegedly hatched a plan with Amar Singh and others to eliminate Joginder. They reached the property dealer's office late on Saturday night and fired multiple rounds at Joginder and the woman, Tiwari said.

The woman was killed since she was witness to Joginder's murder, he said.

Lakra was hit five times while Manisha was shot thrice.

Lakra, a resident of Mundka village in Delhi, was married to a woman posted in the Security Cell of Delhi Police, the officer said.
