Mumbai, Dec 11 (IANS) Skipper Virat Kohli scored his third double century of the year as India amassed 579/7 at lunch on the fourth day of the fourth Test here on Sunday, a first innings lead of 179 runs over England.
Kohli (212 batting) continued his supreme form from where he left on Saturday, leading India's charge to swell the lead. He and Jayant Yadav (92 batting) resumed action at 451/7 and continued to dominate.
India scored 128 runs in 29 overs in the first session of play without losing a wicket.
India lead by 51 runs at the stumps on the third day, with Kohli unbeaten on 147 and Yadav not out on 30, an unbroken 87-run stand.
They batted authoritatively on the first session of play on Sunday, Kohli hitting 24 boundaries in a 317-ball knock. Yadav struck boundaries to his credit during the 184 ball innings.
Their eighth-wicket partnership has blossomed to 215 runs, giving India a handsome lead, which they can utilise to win the match.
