Kolkata, Dec 10 (IANS) A traffic sergeant of Kolkata police was allegedly assaulted while trying to protect his wife's modesty, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred near Dumdum Chiriamore in North Kolkata in the late hours of Friday.
The sergeant was allegedly beaten up by a gang of six people on his way back home after he protested against the lewd comments and obscene gestures made towards his wife, police said.
"Raju Lodh, one of the offenders in the incident has been arrested. Police is looking for the others," an officer from Chitpur police station said.
