New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) The total area sown under Rabi crops as on December 9 stands at 472 lakh hectares as compared to 439 lakh hectare this time in 2015, as per preliminary reports received from the states, said an official statement.
"Wheat has been sown/transplanted in 225 lakh hectares, rice in eight lakh hectares, pulses in 121 lakh hectares, coarse cereals in 44.83 lakh hectares and area sown under oilseeds is 72 lakh hectares," said an Agriculture Ministry release.
Earlier, concerns were raised on sowing of Rabi crops from various quarters due to cash crunch in the market following demonetisation move.
