Shimla, Dec 7 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat on Wednesday asked universities in the state to go cashless and also to create awareness on digital ways to make payments.
Presiding over a meeting with vice chancellors of all universities in government and private sector, he urged them to encourage cashless transactions.
An official statement said the Governor asked them to ensure cashless transaction through debit or credit cards, online transfers and through cheques.
He also stressed upon conducting trainings, workshops and seminars so that cashless transactions could be the part of daily use. He said that such drives should also be carried out in colleges in the state.
"Future generations will openly accept digital payment methods and lead a revolution to cashless economy. Mobile banking and digital methods of payment would bring transparency," the statement quoting him as saying.
The state Raj Bhawan has already adopted cashless transactions.
