Congress leaders asked not use party’s internal e-mail account

New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS) After Twitter handles of Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and the party were hacked, Congress leaders using the internal e-mail account have been asked not to use their accounts.

According to a party source, Congress leaders who are using AICC's internal e-mail accounts have been asked not to use them and deactivate them till a proper security assessment is done.

"The Congress' internal e-mail server is under a sustained hacking attack because of which some of our Twitter accounts were compromised. Twitter has restored access for some of them and is working with us in keeping the accounts safe. We are taking necessary measures to stop this hack in the earnest," said Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Surjewala had earlier tweeted: "24 hours after hacking of @OfficeOfRG&@INCIndia, Twitter accounts of other Congress leaders being targeted with impunity as Modi government looks on."

"Several hacking attempts being made on Twitter accounts of Congress frontal orgs @IYC,@nsui and Modiji talks about Digital India for youth?"

The Delhi Police on Thursday registered two FIRs into the hacking.
