New Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS) In a bid to arrest movement of demonetised currency from one part of the country to another, the Director General of Civil Aviation on Tuesday asked non-scheduled operator permit holders and private aircraft operators to comply with aviation security orders strictly.
It also warned of strict action in cases of non-compliance.
In a circular, Joint Director General of Civil Aviation Lalit Gupta said: "It has been reported that some of the non-scheduled operator permit holders have been engaged to carry demonetised currency from one part of the country to another, particularly from the uncontrolled airfields where there are no arrangements for screening of passenger baggage."
"All NSOP holders and private aircraft are directed to strictly comply with the provisions of AVSEC (aviation security) order...failing which strict action as deemed appropriate shall be initiated against the pilot-in command as well as the operator," the circular added.
According to civil aviation security, no objection certificate is required before granting any permission to operate from/to any non-operational/non-sterile area or non-sterile airports/airstrips. Screening of passengers and their baggage in small aircraft/helicopters up to 10 seats should be done by pilot-in-command.
