Cashless Goa will mean more hardship: Congress

Panaji, Nov 29 (IANS) Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's plan to turn Goa into a model cashless state by the year-end will cause more hardships, state Congress President Luizinho Faleiro said on Tuesday.

"I think it will be a huge injustice to the people. The move to make Goa cashless is not people friendly," Faleiro said.

A former Goa Chief Minister, Parrikar last week said that as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India vision, efforts would be made to make Goa a cashless state by December 30.

Parrikar and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar have been holding a series of meetings with bureaucrats, bankers and traders to come up with ways and means to encourage cashless transactions.
