Nay Pyi Taw, Nov 27 (IANS) Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will visit Singapore next week, a statement said on Sunday.
Suu Kyi's trip at the invitation of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is expected on December 1, Xinhua news agency quoted a source as saying.
Relations and cooperation between Myanmar and Singapore have opened a new chapter after Lee visited Myanmar in June as the first leader of Asian countries after the National League for Democracy government assumed office on April 1.
During Lee's visit, the two countries signed an agreement on 30-day mutual exemption of visa for ordinary passport holders, which will take effect on December 1.
Singapore is Myanmar's second largest investor after China with an accumulative investment of $15.596 billion as of October 2016.
Myanmar-Singapore bilateral relations dated back to the year 1966 when the two countries established diplomatic ties.
