Mumbai, Nov 25 (IANS) A massive fire raged through a roadside furniture market at Oshiwara in Mumbai suburb on Friday, the BMC Disaster Control said.
The fire broke out around 1 p.m. in one of the retail furniture shops in the market that deals in both old and new furniture, and rapidly spread to other shops standing cheek by jowl.
The fire brigade deployed 16 fire tenders, water tankers and ambulances to combat the blaze in the north-west suburb as it quickly blazed through dry wooden goods.
Efforts were on to contain the conflagration and prevent it from spreading to a huge slum pocket situated in the vicinity.
There were no reports of any casualties so far, the Disaster Control official said.
