Bhubaneswar, Nov 25 (IANS) A day after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh criticised the Narendra Modi government for "the demonetisation mess", BJP President Amit Shah on Friday said those whose black money will be lost in the demonetisation move are pained.
"Those have black money, they will feel the pain. Till November 7, they (opposition parties) were asking what has Modi done about black money. Now they ask why have you done this for black money," said Shah addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party's "Jan Jagran Maha Samavesh" in Bhubaneswar.
Shah said the demonetisation move has united the arch rivals in the opposition. He said they were climbing the same tree like rats, cats and snakes to escape the "demonetisation flood".
"Imagine there is a flood in Mahanadi river and there is a banyan tree on it. The cat, mouse, snake and mongoose climb the same tree. But when all climb the tree, neither cat eats the rat nor is he scared of the animal. The mongoose does not attack the snake and the snake does not attack the mongoose. Each of them is waiting for the floodwaters to recede," Shah said.
"After the demonetisation move, Congress, Mamata Banerjee (TMC), Arvind Kejriwal (AAP), Mayawati (BSP) and Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP) have climbed the tree and are waiting for Narendra Modi's 'demonetisation flood' to recede," he added.
