Mumbai, Nov 23 (IANS) Manish Singh, the producer of Sanjay Dutt's comeback movie "Bhoomi" has dismissed all rumours about finalising the female lead.
There has been a report that Dilip Kumar's grandniece Sayyeshaa Saigal will play the role of Sanjay Dutt's daughter in the film.
Speaking exclusively at an interview on Wednesday Singh, however, confirmed that no female lead has been finalised yet.
"We've been reading about the news but as of now we haven't finalised anyone. Currently, we are looking for the correct person to play the role of Sanjay Dutt's daughter," Singh said.
"The film has a lot of drama and emotions so we are looking for an experienced actress to play such an important role in the film. 'Bhoomi' is the lead role in the film. We are in process of looking for that artist but no one has been finalised yet," he said.
Sayyeshaa recently made her Bollywood debut with Ajay Devgn's "Shivaay".
Asked if there is any actress in mind who can portray the role of Bhoomi, Singh replied, "We have Alia Bhatt in our mind as an example but she has date issues for next one and half year. So we are looking another option."
Helmed by National Award winning Director Omung Kumar, Bhoomi will see Sanjay Dutt and Omung Kumar work together for the first time.
About the film, Manish said: "It's an emotional relationship between father and daughter and will be shot in Uttar Pradesh for 60 days all over Agra. This will be Sanjay's first film after the trial. After reading many scripts he zeroed on Omung's film."
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Singh, the film's shoot will start on February 2017.
