Pakistan summons Indian deputy envoy over ceasefire violations

Islamabad, Nov 22 (IANS) Pakistan on Tuesday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh over ceasefire violations and also mentioned alleged violation of the Pakistani maritime zone by an Indian submarine.

An official statement said Director General (South Asia & SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner and "strongly condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations" on November 21 in which four civilians were killed and 10 others were injured.

"The Director General also condemned the violation of Pakistan's Maritime Exclusive Economic Zone by the Indian naval submarine on 14 November 2016 in violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)," the statement said.

The Indian Navy has denied the submarine's presence in Pakistan waters and rejected the allegation as a "blatant lie".
