New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) The central government on Tuesday denied reports suggesting that the Ministry of Culture has allowed the cultural unit of the RSS to institute 'Naimishya Samman' Awards.
"A section of the media had reported that the Ministry of Culture had given the go ahead to the cultural unit of the RSS to institute Naimishya Samman Awards. This information is completely wrong," the Ministry said in a statement here.
The media reports, denounced by the Ministry, had suggested that a grand extravaganza, titled, "Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsava" would be held in Varanasi in December to kick-start the first edition of the awards.
The statement said that a section of media had published this news without verifying it from the authorised sources. This has created a lot of confusion in the minds of the stakeholders of the Ministry and general public.
It also clarified that no proposal was received from any quarter to introduce awards referred to as Naimishya Samman in the fields of Peace, Human Rights, Literature, Visual and Performing Arts, Science and Education.
