Gwyneth Paltrow hopeful after Donald Trump win

Los Angeles, Nov 20 (IANS) Gwyneth Paltrow is not being pessimistic about Republican Donald Trump winning the US presidential election. The Oscar-winning actress says it's time to have an open mind and look through.

The actress, who also is an entrepreneur with her successful business ventures like a lifestyle website Goop, skincare line, fragrance range, however, refrained from dwelling on whether she supports Trump or Democratic Hilary Clinton.

"The most amazing thing for me about this election is I felt...'I don't understand the opposition well enough at all'. I'm not going to tell you what side I'm on, but my big takeaway was, 'I really need to open my mind and understand better because I don't'," Paltrow said during a discussion at the Airbnb Open 2016 here on Saturday.

The "Shallow Hal" actress, who has written three cookbooks, added that "it's such an exciting time to be an American because we are at this amazing inflection point".

And she feels it's time to come together and form a community.

"...It's very important for me, personally, now more than ever, to create a community and to remember the humanity of everybody and to create love and...understanding," said the mother of two.

Paltrow made a name for herself with films like "Seven", "Shakespeare in Love", and "A Perfect Murder". She is best known for her role in "Iron Man" franchise.

Paltrow says she is taking her film career slow as she wants to focus on her lifestyle website -- Goop.

"I'm hundred per cent focussed on Goop. I will go a film next year," she said.

Goop started as a blog -- which has recipes and other heartfelt content, but it has grown big. It was founded in 2008.

Paltrow says that it is only recent that she has monetised it.

The team working on the lifestyle website today consists of 60 people, and has turned out be a profitable venture. But things were not that simple when she planned to take a step outside showbiz.

"It (coming from Hollywood and starting business) was tough. No one took me seriously for a long while. I had no idea what I was doing...It took me years to understand e-commerce," Paltrow said.

When she is not working, Paltrow is travelling around the world. She has been to India, Sri Lanka, and wants to explore Bhutan, Cambodia and Vietnam.

She says she likes to travel with her children and "see the world through their eyes".
