Panaji, Nov 19 (IANS) Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said clear instructions had been given to soldiers to fire and kill the enemy troops and not wait for the latter to fire.
Speaking at a rally in Cuncolim assembly constituency in south Goa, Parrikar said the focus under the BJP-led government at the Centre was to make the country's borders safer.
"My clear directions are: If someone comes with a machine gun to fire on you, finish him off before he fires, because (otherwise) he will finish you. We were thus able to give a proper response to our enemy," Parrikar said.
"...after the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to power at the Centre, our attention was devoted to making the borders safer," Parrikar said.
