New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS) Two AIIMS doctors were among the South Asian medical professionals who were awarded by The BJM (British Medical Journal) on Saturday for excellence in their respective fields.
The Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences' Govind Makharia was awarded for research paper of the year as part of the third edition of the prestigious BMJ awards. Atul Ambekar was awarded in the field of non-communicable diseases.
More than 1, 500 nominations were received for the awards from across South Asia, which were shortlisted to 30 nominations across 10 categories.

The Healthcare Summit Awards reflect our desire to highlight cases of South Asian clinical excellence and raise questions that determine the further of healthcare," said Prashant Mishra, Managing Director of BMJ India, in a statement.
