'Delhi Walk Festival' kicks off Saturday
New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) With 200 walks spread over three weekends and led by 50 experts, the 'Delhi Walk Festival' is here again to promote urban exploration and present everyone an opportunity to discover the city's heritage.

Organised by 'Delhi I Love You' and the State Bank of India, the second edition of the festival will run November 19-December 4.

"The first edition of Delhi Walk Festival received an overwhelming response and on public demand, we are launching another edition the same year. This edition is spread across many more locations and themes," Aastha Chauhan, Director, 'Delhi, I Love You' said.

 

"While the government is working hard to reduce pollution is the city, walking remains one of the healthiest options for commuting as well as exploring the city," Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra had said announcing the festival.

"Delhi is a city rich in heritage, nature, art and culture. We aim to make this a bi-annual event and support the idea of urban exploration on foot," he said.

In the second edition, they have also included some walks led by eminent Delhiites, such as environmentalist and author Pradip Krishen, journalist and author Ravish Kumar, stand-up comedian Gursimran Khamba, author William Dalrymple, and author and queer activist Gautam Bhan.

Walks will be held at many popular places and unexplored parts of the city, including Tuqlaqabad Fort, Nizamuddin, Khan Market, Connaught Place, Humayun's Tomb, Lodhi Garden, CR Park, Paharganj, Haus Khas, Kashmiri Gate, Qutub area, Sonia Vihar and Khirkee Extension, among others.
