Trump's free trade policy remarks worrisome for Sweden: Minister

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) While Sweden welcomes Donald Trump as the new US president and sees a great opportunity in building future trade ties including more job creation, his statements especially regarding free trade are worrisome for the country, Swedens Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg has said.

"American people have made their choice. For Sweden, our political and economic ties with the US are very important. When it comes to job creation, there is no better country than the US," Damberg told IANS on Wednesday on the sidelines of the India- Sweden Business Leaders Roundtable here.

"Still, there are some elements that worry us, especially Trump's recent free trade remarks that does not go well with countries like us," added Damberg who is visiting India along with a high-profile business delegation to help India innovate and see newer technology solutions.

In Stockholm, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan L?fven also congratulated Trump but did not hide his disappointment.

"I think it is an election result that worries a lot of individuals, as well as markets," L?fven told public broadcaster SVT.

"I would have preferred Hillary Clinton to win, for a number of reasons. But it is also the case that Sweden will strive to have good relations with the US, no matter who becomes president," L?fven added.
