Shri ChandrababuNaidu launches 'Electronic Urban Health Centres' (CMUHC) to serve healthcare needs of the urban poor of Andhra Pradesh!
Andhra Pradesh now serves the healthcare needs of the urban poor through Chief Minister’s Urban Health Centres (CMUHC)
Apollo Hospitals extends its commitment to rural and remote healthcare as the service provider for theGovernment of AP, thereby providing primary healthcare and telemedicine facilities for an urban poor population of Andhra Pradesh.
Vijayawada, November9th, 2016: In a novel initiative to cater to the ever increasing healthcare needs of our population and serve the urban poor of Andhra Pradesh, the HonourableChief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu today inaugurated the Electronic Urban Healthcare Centre (CMUHC) in Vijayawada in the presence of Guest of Honour ShriKamineni Srinivas, Hon’ble Health Minister, Govt. of AP; Ms SangitaReddy, Jt. Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals, officials from the state government and Apollo Hospitals.
An ever-growing disease burden for a large-scale and evolving population demands fast- paced health reforms. “It has been our mission to provide prompt integrated quality primary health care for the urban poor population of Andhra Pradesh at their doorstep. With this vision, the Government of Andhra Pradesh is reforming thePublic health system by upgrading Urban Health Centres (UHC) into CMUHCs. Through this initiative, we aim to serve 13.2 million people of Andhra Pradesh in three years, thereby catering to basic and advanced healthcare needs of families which are below and close to the poverty line” the Honourable CM said. More than200 Urban health centres will be launched across the state in the next few months.
Urban Health Centres (UHCs) established by the Government serve as the first point of intervention for patients who typically can be treated at the primary level for their basic healthcare needs. The Government of Andhra Pradesh will leverage the benefits of digitisation of healthcare through this PPP model, thereby enabling access toSpecialist doctors through Telemedicine and diagnostics in the local neighbourhoods itself. “As per the directives of National Health Mission, the urban poor population of Andhra Pradesh will now have easy access to essential primary health care services and their out of pocket expenses for treatment will be considerably reduced through the launch of CMUHCs” said Shri Chandrababu Naidu.
A forerunner technology based healthcare delivery, Apollo Hospitals, extended its commitment to rural and remote healthcare by providing services at 164 such CMUHCs across9 districts in Andhra Pradesh to manage & operate for a period of threeyears along with the government of Andhra Pradesh through a well drawn tender.
