New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Nepal of India's full support in its post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, an official said on Wednesday.
The assurance was held out by Modi when former Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba called on him here on Tuesday and discussed bilateral issues, including reconstruction efforts in the Himalayan country following the April 2015 temblor, an official release said.
The quake killed over 8,000 persons and caused extensive damage to residential houses and other infrastructure. India has pledged to support Nepal in its post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.
Modi appreciated the progress achieved in settling outstanding constitutional issues in Nepal, and expressed the hope that all such issues will be resolved at the earliest in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration.
Deuba, a three-time Prime Minister of the Himalayan nation, last held the top political office in Nepal from 2004 to 2005.
