Lucknow, Nov 9 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said while the Samajwadi Party is against black money, he would like the Centre to ensure that common people, farmers and poor are not put to trouble due to the demonetisation move.
Talking to reporters, the Chief Minister said that owing to the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, people are rushing to banks so there is a need to have more bank counters, especially in the countryside.
Akhilesh, however, did not directly comment on the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the decision is not far reaching and long term for tackling the menace of black money.
He also said that before taking this decision, it would have been better if it was discussed by lawmakers in Parliament.
"The decision has been taken in haste and people are facing a lot of difficulties because of the decision," the 43-year-old Chief Minister said.
