Kolkata, Nov 8 (IANS) Border Security Force personnel have seized three home-made pistols and cartridges in West Bengal's Nadia district, officials said on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off about smuggling of weapons in the area under Bagdah police station of Mustafapur, the BSF and the local police carried out a joint raid and challenged two persons moving suspiciously and but they escaped "taking advantage of darkness, proximity of village houses and wild bamboo growth", a BSF officer said.
Following a search, the three firearms and two rounds of 8 mm cartridges were found.
The seized items were handed over to Bagdah police station for further investigation and legal action.
During the ongoing year, BSF South Bengal Frontier has apprehended nine smugglers and seized 22 air guns, nine pistols, and 38 home-made pistols.
