AI to earn from additional Nagpur-Mumbai flight
Nagpur, Nov 8 (IANS) Air India will operate as commercial service its empty aircraft returning from mandatory checks at the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility here as an additional flight to Mumbai on Thursday, an official said on Tuesday.

The carrier will operate non-scheduled, revenue flights from and to Nagpur whenever its aircraft is scheduled for regular checks at its MRO here, AI station manager Alice Paul said.

"It has been a huge response... Within just 24 hours of opening bookings for the flight AI-1630, we have sold 226 out of the 340 seats for the flight," Paul said.

The AI will cater to the heavy demand on this sector by operating this Boeing-777 additional flight which will depart at 1600 hours (4 p.m.) for Mumbai on November 10 at competitive fares starting Rs 2,731 for economy class, and offering special fares for first and business classes.

The move follows AI CMD Ashwini Lohani's recent announcement here after which an Airbus A-320 aircraft was operated as an additional service for New Delhi on Monday post-MRO checks.
