NITI Aayog unveils revised learning content for IAS aspirants

New Delhi, Nov 5 (IANS) McGraw Hill Education India on Friday launched a revised and updated edition of General Studies Manual Paper-1 here, inculcating the latest developments and events in it up to August 2016.

The book was launched by Arvind Panagariya, the Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog (National Institute for Transforming India) in the presence of its authors, including Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi.

 

The preparation for General Studies paper is a must for all the aspiring IAS candidates and the General Studies Paper book is an indispensable tool in preparing for such an exam.

McGraw Hill Education is a major education company internationally, which specialises in developing educational content and similar software.

"The book is of great benefit to the new generation. I wish we had such self help books while we were preparing for the services. All the authors of the book have done great work and have contributed immensely to revise the book. I congratulate them on the launch and wish them all the success," Panagariya, who was the chief guest at the launch said.

The new edition is a work of many academics, some of whom are veterans when it comes to designing the education content for IAS aspirants.

The authors included former Reader at Khalsa College G. N. Dixit, former Dean at St. Stephens College Tara Chand and Shubha Parmar from Department of History at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) College, among others.

Mehrishi, one of the co-authors of the book, said, "It was an honour to co-author the book with other veterans and I am thrilled to be a part of the journey. It was an enriching and fulfilling experience and I am happy to have made a small contribution in the process. I wish all the success to the civil service aspirants".

Managing Director of McGraw Hill Education India & SAARC Kaushik Bellani also spoke at the event.

"General Studies Manual Paper-1 has been the key for civil service aspirants since last 33 years. The new and improved version is compiled by a galaxy of well known subject experts and aims to prepare students as per the changed syllabus," Bellani said.

"We hope the book proves to be a crucial tool in every student's journey of preparing for the exams," he added.
