Rome, Nov 5 (IANS) Spanish football coach Marcelino Garcia Toral, who travelled to Milan to meet with Inter Milan directors, is among the favourites to lead the Serie A club, Italian media reported on Saturday.
On Friday, the 51-year-old Marcelino arrived in Milan with his lawyer and agent Eugenio Botas, where they met with representatives of the Chinese group Suning, main shareholders of the Italian club, reports Efe.
The former coach of Villarreal has become the leading candidate to succeed Dutch Frank De Boer, after the Spaniard headlined the front pages of main Italian sports newspapers.
Marcelino finished fourth in La Liga with Villarreal last season.
The Italian club dismissed the Dutch coach last Tuesday after he won only five matches of the last 14 games, and provisionally appointed youth coach Stefano Vecchi.
The next coach will be the fourth for Inter this year, after Roberto Mancini, De Boer and Vecchi.
