Sunburn CEO speaks up on venue change

Mumbai, Nov 3 (IANS) The venue of the tenth edition of the EDM festival Sunburn has been shifted from Goa to Pune. Sunburn's CEO Karan Singh says pending dues is not the only reason behind the change in venue.

Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar on Monday said that the organisers of Sunburn can still hold the event in Goa as long as they pay dues of Rs 1.75 crore for providing police personnel for security cover.

"You see there are a lot of payments that have been made from our end, as deposits, which are still with the authorities over there (Goa). And apart from that, there are many issues from their end, that we were facing," Karan Singh told IANS on Thursday.

"We tried to resolve the issues, and of course, we were looking for other venues simultaneously. It was just the matter of running out of time," he added.

The much-awaited music festival is organised by Percept. Co-presented by Renault and Gionee, it will be held in Kesnand district, Haveli next month. The venue is called Sunburn Hills.

"We have a huge line-up, massive production and an amazing venue. We also have camping happening. We are planning a huge celebration," said Singh.

Previous editions of Sunburn have hosted popular artistes like Afrojack, Paul Oakenfold, Martin Garrix and David Guetta. This year's line-up will be announced soon.

Singh said that it's going to be a world class music festival experience, and the change in the venue is not going to affect the business.

"We believe we have an established festival, one of the biggest in the world, so we don't see any problem as such. We are very passionate and excited about the festival," he added.
