Dehradun, Nov 3 (IANS) A team of Election Commission officials led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Naseem Zaidi is on a two-day visit to Uttarakhand to review the preparations for polls in the hill state, an official said on Thursday.
The state goes to polls early next year to elect its legislative assembly, along with neighbouring states Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
Soon after their arrival late on Wednesday, the poll panel officials attended an event aimed at creating voting awareness and the later viewed a street play improvised for encouraging more and more people to come out and vote.
Uttarakhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Radha Ratoodi said the members of the commission and the CEC on the second day of their visit would launch a mobile application and three online apps.
She added that the digital interface has been prepared for ease of communication and for making the electoral process more transparent.
