New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday demanded to know what crime he had committed by trying to meet the family of a retired soldier who committed suicide.
Police detained Sisodia when he went to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) here to meet the kin of Ram Kishan Grewal, who killed himself here on Tuesday demanding implementation of the OROP scheme.
"I went to RML to meet the family, not to stage a dharna. What's wrong with that?" Sisodia tweeted.
Sisodia targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Law and order is in jeopardy if Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister meets the grieving family? What kind of system is this, Modiji?"
"You pat yourself over the soldiers' bravery and arrest us when we go to meet the family of a soldier who committed suicide. Patriotism?"
Sisodia added that he had been told that police can detain a person for 23 hours without showing any documents under Section 65 of the Indian Penal Code.
