Mumbai, Oct 27 (IANS) Engineering and construction major Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) on Thursday reported a decline of 42.80 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2016.
The company's net profit decreased to Rs 23.08 crore for the second quarter -- down from Rs 40.35 crore in the corresponding period of 2015-16.
The company's total income from operations during the period under review fell by 5.26 per cent to Rs 911.13 crore -- up from Rs 961.79 crore reported for the quarter ended September 30, 2015.
However, HCC's order backlog, with an improved market share grew by over 30 per cent in last one year to Rs 21,309 crore in view of the government's renewed thrust on infrastructure.
"The company has received three major contracts in Q2 worth Rs 4,455 crore and one order post September 30, 2016 worth Rs 202 crore," the company said in a statement.
