AAP legislator now booked in assault case


New Delhi, Oct 26 (Ians) Aam Aadmi Party legislator from Okhla, Amanatullah Khan, was on Wednesday booked in a case of physical assault on two engineers here, Delhi Police said.

A case was registered against Khan and four-five of his associates on the statements of Tashir and Naushad, who alleged that the accused beat them up with sticks following a verbal duel over a Facebook post.

Naushad and Tashir are residents of Shaheen Bagh area of south-east district. They were allegedly attacked by Khan's associates on late Tuesday night. Both suffered injuries to their heads and internal organs during the clash.

Police said a cross-case was also registered against both the engineers at the Jamia Nagar Police Station on a complaint by an accused Feroz that both engineers began arguing first on Facebook and abused Khan and others associates.

"Khan and his associates were booked under Sections 341,325 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code on various charges, including causing grievous hurt on the complaint of Naushad and Tashir," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Romil Baniya told IANS.

"The two were booked on a complaint about threats, abuse and others offensive comments at the Jamia Nagar police station."

Khan was earlier booked on a molestation charge levelled by a kin.
