New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) D.S. Rana and Arvind Kumar -- two senior doctors of city based Sir Ganga Ram Hospital -- have been chosen for the prestigious B.C. Roy National Award, to be presented by President Pranab Mukherjee in January, 2017.
According to the Medical Council of India, Rana has been chosen for his contribution to recognising the best talents in encouraging the development of specialties in different branches of medicine, while Kumar was chosen for the category of Eminent Medical Person.
D.S Rana, who is a Padma Shri, is the chairman, Board of Management (BOB) of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, while Kumar is the chairman of Department of Thoracic Surgery at the same hospital.
Speaking about the honour, Rana told IANS: "I am humbled by the prestige awarded by the government as I come from a very humble background, born to a teacher father. I was a doctor by accident."
