Lucknow, Oct 22 (IANS) Politicians from different parties as well as Uttar Pradesh Bar Council Vice-President Janki Sharan Pandey and hundreds of lawyers on Saturday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2017 assembly polls.
Welcoming the new entrants, state BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya said the entry of legal fraternity representatives in large numbers had further strengthened the party that aims for 265-plus seats in the 404-member state assembly.
Bahujan Samaj Party leader Ramesh Patel, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Naresh Paswan, Peace Party's state General Secretary Dhruv Pratap Singh also joined the BJP on Saturday.
Maurya said the exodus of political leaders from other parties was a sign of growing realisation that the BJP was not only a front-ranking party in the assembly polls but also a clear winner.
