Patna, Oct 21 (IANS) Bihar Police has ordered the arrest of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV)principal for not taking timely action in a Dalit student's thrashing in the school premises in August, police said on Friday.
"An arrest warrant against Muzaffarpur Kendriya Vidyalya's Principal, Ravi Ranjan, was issued on the basis of a probe report conducted by senior police officers," a police officer said.
He said that raids were being conducted to arrest Ranjan.
Ranjan was earlier suspended by the Kendriya Vidyalya Sangathan (KVS), while 14 other teachers of the school were transferred on Wednesday following a probe by a three-member team of the school.
After the report found involvement of the school authorities to suppress the incident, "Ravi Ranjan was suspended by KVS for not taking timely action on the victim's complaint," a KVS official said.
The shocking incident of thrashing had surfaced after a video went viral on social media.
The school authorities were forced to lodge a police complaint on October 13.
The victim's family had also lodged a police complaint on Monday naming the accused students, who had thrashed and humiliated their child in a classroom.
School authorities and teachers were also made co-accused in the family complaint, the police said.
A chargesheet was filed against two of the accused students on Thursday, who were arrested and sent to remand home.
The accused are brothers, who had reportedly threatened the victim of dire consequences if he defied their diktat.
