Kolkata, Oct 21 (IANS) A dengue patient, admitted to a south Kolkata nursing home, allegedly attacked three nurses with the metallic saline stand leaving them grievously injured, the nursing home said on Friday.
The three nurses -- Shipra Mondal, Margarate Mondal and Victoria -- of All Asia Medical Institute (AAMI), were severely injured in the sudden attack on Thursday.
Two of them had to be admitted to another nursing home in critical condition.
The accused later fled from the nursing home with his relatives, the employees of the clinic said.
According to nursing home sources, Subir Saha (27), a dengue patient from Burdwan, was admitted to the intensive care unit of AAMI on Wednesday night.
"The patient got violent all of a sudden and started beating up the nurses who were treating him," said institute's Managing Director Harsh Agarwal.
"Two of our nurses got severely injured. One has a major wound at the back of her head while the other is hit in her chest," he said.
The reason of the patient's violent behaviour is still not certain as he is still on the run.
A police complaint has been lodged against the accused in Gariahat police station.
