Five countries fail to comply with WADA code

Moscow, Oct 20 (IANS) The national anti-doping organisations of Azerbaijan, Brazil, Greece, Guatemala and Indonesia have failed to comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code and have three weeks to set right the violations, the agency said.

"The WADA's independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC) concluded that these countries were not currently in compliance with the 2015 code; and decided that, unless their pending issues... are solved before 10 November, the CRC will submit recommendations of non-compliance to the agency's foundation board," WADA said in a statement on Wednesday, reports Sputnik.

The violations vary for every country and include non-compliant local legislation or rules, use of non-WADA-accredited laboratories and issues with the countries' anti-doping programs.

On September 3, at a WADA review meeting, Azerbaijan, Brazil and Guatemala were already warned that they faced the threat of being declared non-compliant unless pending issues were resolved.

The agency's foundation board will meet on November 19 in Glasgow, Scotland, where the situation will be addressed.
