New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday demanded changes in the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate to ensure that prices of food and clothing don't increase.
His remarks came after he attended the meeting of the GST Council on Tuesday where the GST rate was discussed. The meeting was chaired by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
"The prices of food, clothing and housing should not increase due to GST. According to present calculations of the central government, food and clothing appear to be getting expensive. It needs to be rectified," Sisodia, who also holds the portfolio of Delhi Finance Minister, tweeted.
