New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS) A court here on Monday took cognizance of the chargesheet filed against a man who knifed a 21-year-old woman nearly 30 times and killed her in broad daylight in Delhi in September.
After considering the chargesheet, Metropolitan Magistrate Rashmi Gupta listed the matter for October 19 for further hearing.
The Delhi Police has chargesheeted Surender Singh, who was arrested on September 20 and currently is in judicial custody, under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
The woman was fatally stabbed as many as 30 times in broad daylight by the man who claimed to be her jilted lover, the police said.
The brutal murder, which was captured in CCTV, took place on September 20 when Karuna Kumar, a teacher in a North Delhi school, was going to work, the police said, adding that Surender had been stalking her for over 18 months.
Surender attacked her with a pair of scissors near Labour Chowk in Burari, the police added.
Karuna was declared brought dead at a trauma centre at the Inter-State Bus Terminus, Kashmere Gate.
