L&T bags Rs 3,799 crore order from Indian Railways
Mumbai, Oct 14 (IANS) Larsen and Toubro Ltd, along with Japan's Sojitz Corp., won an order worth Rs 3,799 crore from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL), the engineering company said on Friday.

The project is located at the northern end of western corridor and forms a link between it and the eastern corridor.

The order involves designing and building a civil structure, overhead electrification, track works, traction substations and signalling and telecommunication works for double line electrified tracks with 2x25 kV AC, high rise overhead catenary system capable of operating at a maximum train speed of 100 km/h, from Rewari (Haryana) to Dadri (Uttar Pradesh), a distance of 128 km, a statement said.

 

DFCCIL, a special purpose vehicle of the Indian Railways, has been mandated to build dedicated freight corridors. This project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is part of the western corridor proposed between Dadri and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (near Mumbai).
