Kathmandu, Oct 14 (IANS) India has beefed up security along its open border with Nepal at Birgunj city following tensions at the India-Pakistan border.
Indian security personnel have tightened security checks and increased surveillance at the border transit points apprehending infiltration by inimical elements from Nepal taking advantage of the open border, The Himalayan Times reported on Friday.
Security has been beefed up in Adapur, Ghodadana and Ghodasahaya in Bara district. The movement of four-wheeled vehicles through these transit points has been disallowed.
All vehicles, except ambulances and those carrying wedding parties, have been banned from plying through the border check points and other crossings along the No-Man's land, Indian officials said.
Security has also been tightened at Raxaul-Vishwa, Parsauni-Bhelai, Sirsiya-Raxaul, Janakitol-Inaruwa, Thori and Bhiswa-Thori transit points along the border with Nepal in Parsa district.
