New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS) Popular designers Rajesh Pratap Singh and Ashish N. Soni showcased their latest monochrome collection on the second day of the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Spring-Summer 2017.
Held at the NSIC ground in Okhla here, the show on Thursday began with Singh's collection began with jazz music. The line featured deconstructed dhotis, kurtas with churidars, dresses, school-girl skirts, jackets and coats.
Singh's collection saw a wide use of checkered, stripes and polka dotted garments all in the monochromatic hues of Ablack, white and grey, which was inspired by the Maruti Suzuki India Limited's premium retail channel NEXA.
The collection also a sprinkle of colour like red, but used in most minimal manner.
Soni, who has styled the like of actors such as Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor and Salman Khan, showcased as many as 25 ensembles, all in the shades of black and white, also saw a usage of embellishments, intricate embroideries, chrome lapels, black zardozi for men.
His collection featured silhouettes like suit paired with a white asymmetric Kurta, double breasted bandhgala, dinner jackets and pants, but the key piece in the entire collection by Soni was the puddle pants, an adaptation of the flared pants.
The five-day fashion gala, which started on October 12 will conclude on Sunday. Other designers, who are all set to showcase their collection on the third day of the fashion gala include Ashima Leena, Siddhartha Tytler, Kavita Bhartia and Gauri and Nainika among many others.
Some Bollywood names are expected to be present at the third day of the show. Actress Tisca Chopra will be seen as the showstopper for Bhartia at the 28th edition of the fashion gala.
Soni and Singh were cheered by designers J.J. Valaya, Anju Modi and former model Joey Matthew, who graced the front row for the show.
