New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) Designer Gaurav Jai Gupta on Thursday showcased a collection called Pingala, depicting a change from negativity to happiness, at the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Spring-Summer 2017.
The designer showcased his collection at the day two of the five-day gala, which commenced on Wednesday and is being held at the NSIC ground in Okhla.
"The collection is called Pingala. It's a yogic term, which means active state. It started from whatever is going around (in politics)... There is a lot of negativity. So we basically wanted to do a happy collection," Gupta told the media here.
Gupta, whose collection was showcased under his label Akaaro, showcased 37 hand woven garments blended beautifully with silk, cotton linen, liquid mesh and zari. The ensembles included dresses, kurtas, sari, pants and jackets.
Gupta has used a wide array of bright colours like green, brown, red, yellow, white and black.
Talking about his collection, he said: "This is all hand woven. The entire collection has been woven at my studio in Delhi, so nothing is sourced."
Gupta, who feels handloom needs a fresh approach, was cheered by designers Tarun Tahiliani and Rahul Mishra, who graced the front row for the show.
