New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) It was all about Khadi beautifully infused with glamour and bright hues in ace designer duo David Abraham & Rakesh Thakore's show held at the 28th edition of the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Spring-Summer 2017 on Thursday.
The duo showcased over 35 ensembles at the ongoing five-day fashion gala at the NSIC ground in Okhla, where the whose who of the fashion industry like Masaba Gupta, Rajesh Pratap Singh, JJ Valaya and many more will be showcasing their latest collections.
Talking about the collection Abraham told IANS: "It was our way of giving a tribute to Khadi. It is our way of saying this is Khadi and lets look at it in a different way. Lets make it glamorous and fun. So we did a lot of metallic and logos in Hindi. It was like a fun collection."
The collection ranged from gold laminated khadi blouse and sari, kurta, joggers, palazzo pants, pavadai skirts, dresses, salwar pants and jackets. The colour palette made a transition from metallic colours like gold, to black, copper and coffee.
Abraham says that the fabric is iconic.
Asked if he feels Khadi is the fabric for the future, Abraham told IANS: "I think Khadi is one of India's most iconic fabric for India. So we need to keep working with it and keep making it fresh and new."
The highlight of the entire show was the stitched sari with a blouse having peter pan collars.
Talking about the garment, Abraham quipped: "It is a one minute Khadi Sari."
The five-day fashion gala, which started on October 12 will conclude on Sunday. Other designers, who are all set to showcase their collection on the third day of the fashion gala include Ashima Leena, Siddhartha Tytler, Kavita Bhartia and Gauri and Nainika among many others.
