Written completely from a woman’s perspective, this book is a fresh attempt on the complex concept of feminism.
Talking about his latest novel ‘One Indian Girl’, ChetanBhagat said “This book is all about understanding women. I have come across a lot of women and tried to understand the problems that they face in this male dominated society. This book is my humble attempt at shedding some light on the topic. I’m really kicked about this novel and I hope it’s well received by the readers.”

Interacting with the avid fans of his at the launch he said, writing this book was different, it's a challenge to read a girl's mind, difficult for man to know what a girl thinks, what she wants, if you know that it's much easier to get a girl friend. Lot of research went into this book, I spoke to hundred women, queried them on how they think, from there I drew this character. There is waxing scene in the book, I bought a waxing, it's really painful when you do it first time. After reading the book, girls asked me, are you sure you wrote this book. He said, the best thing for a man is having a working wife, I have a working wife and a working mother, so I could give up my job. Drawing inferences from them I knew I could write this. For seven years I have been wanting to do this but never had confidence. After six books and after ten years, I said I can do this. My ex-girlfriend, my wife and some friends gave me the confidence. This book explains the basics of feminism for readers. I try to write stories of India which people haven't known. About his fancy for small towns in his books, he said I am a motivational speaker get invited to small towns, therefore write on small towns. But One Indian Girl is not set in a small town, its set in USA, Goa, it is mostly based on abroad happenings. On whether he will now publish a One Indian Boy, he said, lot of my books is on One Indian Boy, even this book is on One Indian Boy actually. I have known men's psychology quite a bit, my earlier six books were about One Indian Boy. He said, Charles Dickens is his favourite author.
